Veterinarian – Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic

Location : Danbury, Connecticut – a vibrant city with scenic parks, lakes, hiking trails, a lively downtown, and just over an hour from New York City.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups.
- Communicate effectively with clients and provide education.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures and surgeries as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Handle pharmacy duties, including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols.
- Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations.
- Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily operations from intake to discharge.
- Monitor cases in the hospital and attend daily rounds to ensure high standards.
- Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications (Required)
- Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution.
- Current State Veterinary License.
- DEA registration, must be obtained and maintained.
- At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills.
- Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the medical and hospital staff.
- Client communication skills: ability to elicit information, establish rapport, and provide clear explanations to pet owners.
- Confidence and reassurance when handling distressed, ill, or painful animals.
- Capacity for some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed.
- Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work periodically.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
