American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring advanced fetal monitoring skills and comfort caring for both mother and newborn.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Provider)
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience with any EMR/charting system preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
- Experience managing medications including antihypertensives, antiseizure drugs, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline
- Skilled in neonatal care including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
- Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating/recovering C-sections
- Skilled in epidural anesthesia management and PCA pain management
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum care
- Experience with antepartum care, obstetrical triage, and sterile vaginal exams
Responsibilities
- Labor and Delivery unit within a community hospital setting
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Responsible for care of both laboring/delivered mothers and newborns
- Utilizes advanced fetal monitoring (internal and external)
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care
- Manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients including high-risk conditions such as pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and both circulate and recover C-section patients
- Monitor fetal heart rates using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as required
- Accepts local candidates at the local rate
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for the travel rate
- Former employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
- Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
- First-time travelers not considered for this role
