American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and active Oregon RN licensure.

Requirements

  • Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; pending licensure may be accepted if the application has been submitted to and received by the licensing board
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required, with at least 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last 2 years
  • Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA — traditional; RQI not accepted); CCRN and NIHSS preferred; BSN preferred
  • Required skills include: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care and management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, interpretation of ABGs, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, emergency medications, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Preferred skills include: respiratory/thoracic care, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, 12-lead EKG/ECG, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath, post cardiac surgery care, continuous IV sedation, and lumbar drains
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months are required; Charge RN references are not acceptable
  • Full date of birth (DOB) and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • COVID vaccination proof required; no exemptions
  • Comprehensive work history covering the last 7 years, including city, state, dates of employment, and PTO periods, is required

Responsibilities

  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Patient population includes complex cardiac and vascular patients, advanced heart failure, cardiac surgery, heart valve replacements (TMVR, TAVR, TTVR), adult congenital heart disease, ventricular assist device (VAD), heart transplantation, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, OB-GYN, and urology
  • Patient ratio is 1:1
  • Charting is performed in Epic; Epic experience is required
  • Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister hospitals is not required
  • Weekend shifts are required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction applies
  • Work setting is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital with 549 staffed beds
  • Candidates will be required to complete pre-start online modules (approximately 4.5 hours for RNs); these are completed before the assignment begins
  • Relias assessment required with a minimum passing score of 85%
  • A comprehensive lifetime background check is conducted through an advanced reporting system; no background or license hits will be accepted
  • First-time travelers are considered with 3 or more years of experience
  • Travel experience is not required but is preferred
  • RTO must be disclosed upfront and is limited to a maximum of 1 week
  • Traveler must work two out of three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year\'s Day
  • Scrubs are provided; no printed scrubs
  • Parking is available on-site at a cost of $15 per day
  • Former employees or previous travelers at this facility must have been separated for at least 6 months before returning; a reference from the supervising manager at this facility is also required for returning candidates
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • Starts are on Tuesdays for RNs
