Overview

The Team Lead – Residential role supports the individual needs and desired outcomes of people with disabilities served in both directly operated and supported living arrangements. Services aim to create safe, normal living situations that promote self‑direction, community integration, and development of independent daily living skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a strong, collaborative team of residential support specialists to operate high‑quality, multi‑dimensional residential services in assigned departments; ensure routine meetings with each assigned department.
  • Continuously convey the mission, vision, and philosophy of the agency through formal and informal communication with residential support specialists; provide direct instruction, coaching, and modeling behavior.
  • Provide residential support staffing as indicated in annual budgets; provide direct coverage during emergencies and maintain 24‑hour on‑call management coverage for all assigned departments.
  • Lead the residential support specialist team to develop, implement, and oversee all activities supporting the operation of assigned Community Living departments.
  • Ensure full implementation and documentation of each person’s Individual Service Plan (ISP); attend all assessment and ISP meetings.
  • Ensure staff are trained in Behavior Support Plans and that required data is collected accurately and per plan stipulations.
  • Maintain residences and vehicles in a safe, secure, and aesthetically pleasing condition.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all individuals served; report incidents to required parties in a thorough and timely manner; participate in investigations and ensure incident reports are routed appropriately.
  • Ensure medical care required by ISPs is implemented promptly and thoroughly; recognize and respond to health or behavioral changes; schedule medical appointments and attend with individuals; transmit medical documents to agency nurse immediately after visits.
  • Ensure medications are ordered, obtained, and made available per physician orders; monitor Medication Administration Records and report errors promptly per protocol.
  • Ensure ancillary services identified in ISPs (plans, therapies, etc.) are made available in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance and quality assurance of all records for individuals and the assigned department through routine review and maintenance of logs, files, medical appointment records, and reports.
  • Facilitate planning of community activities by residents; ensure staff implement the activity schedule and document activities; monitor activities to ensure ISP goals are addressed; manage individual funds requests and accounting per agency policies.
  • Complete all administrative duties including billing documentation.
  • Participate in implementation of the state’s recruitment plan; staff orientation and training; staff observations and evaluations.
  • Oversee staff electronic timekeeping and ensure accuracy of recorded time prior to Program Director approval each pay period.
  • Attend and participate in all relevant agency events, workshops, training, and meetings.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Two or more years of related experience working with people with disabilities; experience in community‑based programs preferred.
  • Minimum one‑year supervisory experience required.
  • Valid health certificate to meet agency or funding authority requirements.
  • Complete criminal background and record checks as required by SJCS and funding authorities.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
