Job Overview:
We are seeking a technician III to support engineering and technical projects in the Jackson, MI area. The ideal candidate will assist lead project engineers with engineering documentation, design reviews, field activities, technical drawings, inspections, and project reporting.
This position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, organize, and calculate technical and engineering data.
- Perform basic field testing within the area of specialization, when required.
- Coordinate and support multiple engineering projects and tasks.
- Assist Lead Project Engineers with design reviews and technical evaluations.
- Consolidate comments and feedback on engineering drawings and designs.
- Assist with specification development and engineering design reviews.
- Prepare and update engineering drawings, maps, finished drawings, and graphic exhibits.
- Prepare field reports, inspection reports, project summaries, and other technical documentation.
- Support field inspections and site visits as required.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, project teams, field personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Follow established procedures, technical direction, and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation.
- Travel to project sites as needed to support field work.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-year college degree in a scientific, engineering, technical, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability and willingness to accept and follow direction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong drawing-reading and technical-document interpretation skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects, assignments, and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat.
- Willingness to attend field/site visits and travel as required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an engineering/project team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting engineering, construction, utility, infrastructure, or technical projects.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, field reports, inspection reports, or project documentation.
- Familiarity with engineering design review and drawing/comment management processes.
- Previous field or site inspection experience.
