The IPG Systems Technician will assemble, test, and install laser-based systems according to engineering instructions and technical manuals. The Systems Technician will be responsible for the assembly, troubleshooting and testing of the electrical, optical and mechanical systems autonomously.
Duties:
- Full range of technical system assembly including optics, mechanical, and electrical
- Assemble and wire machine control panels, electronic sub-assemblies, cables, machines, push button stations, motion controllers, e-stops and test gear.
- Build systems and sub systems
- Use of hand tools and power tools as required
- BS in electronics or electro-optics preferred
- Basic understanding of UL 508A and NFPA 79 standards and how to find information in the standards
- Mechanical aptitude and finesse is required, in the context of precision mechanical assembly for dynamic systems and optics.
- Previous electrical assembly experience or an electrical background is desired.
- Prior experience wiring industrial control panels is strongly preferred
- Perform electrical tests to ensure proper wiring techniques.
- Attention to detail and world-class workmanship is required.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics.
- Data entry skills preferred.
- Strong communication skills required for interaction within R&D group
