Responsibilities
- Provide on-site coverage for surgical patients during assigned evening, overnight, and weekend shifts
- Assess and manage patients on the surgical service, escalating significant changes in condition to the attending surgeon as appropriate
- Respond to and evaluate in-house surgical consults
- Perform bedside procedures and treatments, including peripheral IV placement, NG tube insertion, bladder catheterization, wound and dressing care, suture and drain removal, arterial punctures, venipuncture, and other procedures within scope
- Assist with emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed
- Collaborate with attending surgeons and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation
