Part-Time Student WorkerThe Louisiana Supreme Court Judicial Administrator's Office is seeking a motivated, self-starting Part-Time Student Worker to join the Court Information Technology Division. This position will assist the IT Department professional staff with software development, scripting, automation, data processing, and application maintenance that support internal court operations. Candidates must be full-time students at an accredited college or university (minimum 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours) and be available to work 15–30 hours per week during the academic year, with the opportunity for additional hours during school breaks.
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.The candidate will work under the direction of the Director of IT Services and will be responsible for the following scope of work:Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of internal applications and system toolsCreate scripts to automate routine IT tasks (data processing, reporting, system checks)Support integration work between existing systems and new applicationsAssist with database queries, data cleanup, and basic data analysisParticipate in code reviews, debugging, and documentation updatesProvide support to various court departments on custom-developed toolsWork with IT staff on a variety of projects, including modernization, data migration, and process automationFollow coding best practices, version control processes, and internal development standardsQualifications:Awareness or foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, etc.)Understanding of basic programming concepts such as variables, loops, functions, objects, and debuggingAwareness of database usage, SQL fundamentals, and data structuresKeen interest in software development, automation, and computer-based information systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to research technical problems, read documentation, and apply solutionsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsRequirements:Pursuing an IT-related undergraduate or graduate degree (Computer Science, MIS, IT, Computer Engineering, etc.)High school diploma or equivalentFull-time student (12+ credit hours) at a local college or universityStrong work ethic, organizational skills, and willingness to learnAbility to maintain confidentiality at all timesGeneral knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 and standard office softwareExperience with version control (preferred but not required)Ability to work with standard office equipment; occasional ability to lift/carry up to ~50 lbs (equipment, servers, power supplies)Benefits to Student Work:Gain valuable work experience in a fast paced, dynamic IT department that is common in small to medium size businesses.Provide exposure to determine if IT is the right profession for the candidate (i.e. "is this the right job for me").Providing candidate with a valuable networking opportunity potentially leading to a reference and/or future employment.Exposure to a wide variety of technologies and processes.Opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world scenario.Suggested majors:Computer ScienceComputer EngineeringInformation TechnologyManagement Information SystemsMathematics with Computer Science emphasisOther IT-related disciplinesEOE/M/F/V/D
