Role Overview
STEM professors apply their subject-matter expertise in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering to design domain-specific test tasks, evaluate large language model outputs for technical accuracy, and help improve AI behavior in specialized scientific and technical domains.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine domain-specific prompts, tasks, and evaluation criteria for language model assessment across your field.
- Review and score model responses for correctness, clarity, and alignment with current scientific understanding.
- Research topic areas within your expertise to craft high-quality examples and edge-case test materials, using AI tools as appropriate.
- Provide clear, structured written feedback that translates complex research knowledge into actionable instructions and evaluation rubrics.
- Collaborate asynchronously with project teams, following project-specific onboarding and guidance.
- Current or emeritus faculty at the assistant, associate, or full professor level in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering.
- More than 5 peer-reviewed publications.
- At least one publication from 2025 or 2026.
- H-index greater than 20.
- More than 2, 000 total citations.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to convert advanced research concepts into clear, structured tasks and evaluation criteria.
- Confidence that your domain expertise exceeds current AI systems in explaining and assessing key concepts in your field.
- Remote, fully asynchronous engagement.
- Part-time commitment, approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
- Program runs year-round, however placement into specific projects depends on project availability and varies by discipline.
- Up to $150/hr (depending on the project).
- U.S.-based faculty with valid employment authorization are eligible to apply.
- F-1 students may be eligible only if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization, consult your Designated School Official to confirm whether a given project meets your school’s CPT requirements.
- STEM OPT is not supported for this work.
- Create an account and submit the requested profile information.
- Complete identity verification as required.
- Enroll in or be matched to projects that align with your expertise and complete project-specific onboarding.
- Begin contributing to assigned tasks and receive compensation for completed project work.
