Staff CounselThe Staff Counsel will provide a broad range of legal services and strategic advice to departments and business units across the Company. This role will support the management of litigation matters while also handling general legal activities, including the evaluation, drafting, and negotiation of contracts, particularly Master Service Agreements. Title and level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Job Responsibilities:Include but are not limited to:Support disputes and litigation matters, including pre-litigation investigation and risk analysisPartner with outside counsel; coordinate strategy, gather documentation, and assist with discovery and deposition preparationEvaluate and recommend options for dispute resolutionRespond to subpoenas and related legal requestsDraft, review, and negotiate a variety of company agreements, including:Master Service Agreements (MSAs)Information Technology agreementsAccounting agreementsEquipment leases and other commercial contractsProvide legal guidance to departments on transactional and commercial mattersAssist in managing outside counsel relationships and legal servicesComplete special projects and other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentialsActive admission to a state bar with eligibility to practice in-house in the State of TexasFive (5+) years law practice in a firm, governmental agency, or in-houseAbility to learn and understand the business and operational functions of the Company in order to analyze and advise on litigation risk and assist in the management of litigationDemonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate legal documents effectivelyRelocation:Relocation assistance is available for this position.Work Authorization:Diamondback Energy is not currently sponsoring employment visas for this position.Diamondback is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
