Systems EngineerBAE Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. We are seeking an Engineer with hands on SSBN Strategic Weapons System (SWS) expertise to inform and collaborate with our Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team. The MBSE team utilizes modeling and simulation (M&S) solutions throughout the organization, to perform engineering analysis, and provide results to inform strategic decisions for operations. The Engineer will focus on providing SWS expertise for the design, development, and integration of M&S products for the program. The Engineer will work on a wide variety of challenges to develop solutions for all aspect of the current business.Responsibilities include:Understanding SWS operations and architecturesCommunicating SWS concepts to MBSE engineersReviewing SWS subsystem functional and logical architectures for completeness and accuracyReviewing the Descriptive System Model (DSM) for technical accuracy of model contentHold meetings with engineers supporting multiple programs to provide SWS technical expertise for modelersPrepare/validate data, perform and validate the modeling and analysis, effectively communicate findings, and provide actionable recommendations.Collaborate with Leadership to oversee identification of MBSE efforts and provide input to help design, monitor, and improve new and existing systems using M&S.Support the development of overarching M&S and MBSE Strategy.Evaluate risks and needs impacting future M&S development and integration work.About BAE Systems and the U.S.

Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP): Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and as the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad.

With over 70% of our nation's nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. As a decades long sole source partner on multiple contracts on behalf of our customer, our program has remarkable stability and is concurrently experiencing significant growth.
