We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer II to support and evolve a hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure within a regulated life sciences environment . This role is hands-on, operationally focused, and critical to maintaining system availability, security, and compliance across office and laboratory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and monitor IT systems and infrastructure
- Ensure system availability, performance, and security; respond to incidents and outages
- Harden systems in alignment with Infosec and regulatory requirements
- Support automation, scripting, and routine operational tasks
- Troubleshoot office and lab computing devices and monitoring systems
- Partner with IT, engineering, and other technology teams to maintain critical services
- Train and support help desk staff on new systems, tools, and best practices
- Operate in compliance with GMP, GCP, and GLP requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant IT systems experience
- Life sciences, biotech, medical, or regulated laboratory environment experience — required
- Experience supporting hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure
- Strong background with:
- Microsoft Server technologies and M365 administration
- *NIX server platforms
- VMware and Azure virtualization
- End-user and executive-level support
- Knowledge of security best practices (monitoring, logging, encryption, auditing)
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support occasional after-hours incidents
Preferred Experience
- Scripting or automation (Python, Perl, Ruby)
- Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, SumoLogic, etc.)
- Azure cloud services, IaaS/PaaS, and infrastructure-as-code
- Compliance and audit support (SOX, HIPAA)
- Experience with regulated audits and continuous improvement initiatives
