The Senior IT Systems Engineer serves as the senior technical partner to the Director of IT and is responsible for modernizing Willamette View's core technology environment. This role spans corporate infrastructure, identity management, audiovisual systems, and the specialized technology platforms unique to senior living.

The ideal candidate is a highly curious, hands‑on technologist who enjoys learning new systems and solving complex problems. You are equally comfortable configuring Azure resources with PowerShell, developing automation scripts, or patiently helping staff and residents navigate technology challenges.

Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & Azure Migration

• Lead the planning and execution of migration efforts from on-premises Hyper‑V infrastructure to Microsoft Azure, including workload assessments, migration sequencing, cost optimization, and post‑migration operations.
• Administer and optimize the Azure environment while maintaining Windows Server infrastructure throughout the transition.
• Own backup and disaster recovery strategy across hybrid environments using Veeam and/or Azure‑native solutions.

Core Infrastructure, Identity & Network Management

• Administer hybrid Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Intune endpoint management.
• Manage network infrastructure, including switching, wireless networking, VLANs, and firewall policies using Meraki or comparable platforms.
• Monitor, maintain, and improve system performance, security, and reliability.

Audiovisual & Specialty Systems Support

• Serve as the primary escalation point for audiovisual systems supporting conference rooms and auditoriums, including audio, video, microphones, displays, and streaming technologies for resident, corporate, and all‑staff events.
• Support specialty operational systems, including healthcare applications (PointClickCare), security and access control systems, restaurant/POS platforms, and facilities/building automation systems.
• Collaborate with vendors and department leaders to address connectivity, integrations, and technology troubleshooting needs.
• Provide technical support and coordination for business systems such as Salesforce, Dynamics GP, and UKG Ready.
• Maintain system documentation and vendor relationships while recommending technology refresh and improvement opportunities.

Technical Leadership & Support

• Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues across the organization.
• Mentor IT Services team members by sharing knowledge, strengthening technical skills, and reducing recurring escalations.
• Deliver exceptional support to staff and residents with patience, professionalism, and clear communication.

Documentation & Project Delivery

• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, standards, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to the Director of IT on solution design, vendor selection, and statements of work (SOWs).
• Support system integrations, including API connectivity, data access, authentication, and troubleshooting.
• Independently scope, manage, and deliver infrastructure and technology projects.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Hands‑on production experience administering Microsoft Azure Infrastructure‑as‑a‑Service (IaaS) environments.
• Working proficiency in PowerShell for systems administration and automation.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, including Hyper‑V or equivalent platforms, and enterprise backup/disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience administering enterprise network environments, including Meraki, Cisco, or similar networking platforms.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Demonstrated patience and effectiveness supporting less tech‑savvy staff and senior residents.
• Proven curiosity, adaptability, and self‑directed learning, with a track record of quickly learning and supporting new technologies without formal training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading or supporting Azure infrastructure migrations.
• Experience working in healthcare, senior living, or other regulated environments.
• Familiarity with HIPAA technical safeguards and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting live event AV systems, including audio mixing, camera and microphone setup, and streaming platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Experience with Azure Automation, Azure Data Factory, or similar automation and integration technologies.
• Experience with development pipelines, secrets management, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Microsoft certifications strongly preferred, including:
• Azure Administrator Associate
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
• Or equivalent demonstrated expertise

Working Conditions

• On‑site position supporting a multi‑building campus environment; limited remote flexibility may be available for architecture, planning, and project‑based work.
• Occasional after‑hours work required for system migrations, maintenance windows, upgrades, and technology implementations.
• Participation in occasional backup on‑call support rotations.
• Regular interaction with an older‑adult resident population requiring patience, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
