Senior Accountant LATAMOur company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant with solid experience in preparing accurate and timely results. This position will report to our Senior Manager Accounting and will be responsible for performing the period accounting close and financial reporting for LATAM (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia). This position will have significant interaction with senior accounting management and global accounting teams.This position requires a strong understanding of U.S.
GAAP and LATAM countries accounting and reporting rules and the ability to research and conclude on accounting issues. Person must be diligent and self-motivated with attention to detail.1. Policies and ProceduresEnsuring alignment on all processes with Corporate Finance and Global Shared Services to support the LATAM regional accounting team.Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local LATAM accounting standards and policies, as well as compliance with Sarbanes-OxleyAssist in the design and implementation of corporate accounting policies and proceduresProviding input to continuously improve accounting processes and procedures and related outputs2.
OperationsPreparing period-end close packages and documentation for assigned LATAM entities including:Lead schedules for major accounts,Bank account reconciliations,Other major account reconciliations,Maintain Fixed assets ledgerCalculation of amortization entries,Tax accruals,Intercompany reconciliationsPost journal entries in SAPFollow-up of revenue recognitionPreparing and posting of month-end and period-end journal entries including relevant accruals, reserves and provisions.Accounting for Fixed Asset transactions and adjustments.Maintaining communications and coordination with country Controllers in Latin American to gather financial information used to prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.Preparing the reconciliation of US to Local GAAP and statutory financial statements.Identifying, escalating and helping research complex accounting and finance issues.Assist in resolution of any accounting and internal control issues related to GL accounting operationsImplement process changes and best practices for general ledger reportingClose relation with Global Shared Services and Corporate Teams3. Controls and MonitoringProactive monitoring and analysis of accounts variancesCompiling and reporting on key performance metrics for the Accounting process on a regional, country and SSC level.Perform monthly fluctuation analysis in a timely mannerThis position will work closely various groups such as external auditors, internal auditors, SOX, FP&A, Payroll and tax departments.4. SystemsThe person will participate in the deployment of corporate IT systems (SAP and blackline) across the region.Performing reporting / analytics / system analysisQualifications3 – 5+ years of experience in public or corporate accountingExperience with regional accounting and/or shared services supporting Latin America countries (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico) is REQUIRED!Full Cycle Financial Close Experience RequiredExperience in SAP, BlackLine, a plusStrong understanding of US GAAP and local Latin America accounting standardsBilingual English/Spanish Required, Portuguese a plusAdvanced level with Microsoft Office Products requiredCPAIDEAL CANDIDATEThe candidate should have around 3-5 years of professional experience.
