The Speech Pathologist PRN is responsible for diagnosing and providing therapy for patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, toddlers, school-age children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, who demonstrate communication and swallowing disorders. The role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating patient care, consulting with other professionals, setting outcome goals, and selecting appropriate interventions. The therapist effectively utilizes agency and community resources to promote patient and family independence, including care in the patient's residence.

Schedule: primarily weekends and on-call.
General Duties
- Deliver clinically appropriate evaluation and therapy services for communication and swallowing disorders.
- Evaluate and treat developmental disorders, clinical dysphagia, conduct Modified Barium Swallow studies, and manage speaking valves and oral motor disorders.
- Ensure evaluations are timely and accurate.
Treatment Skills
- Document patients' hearing status.
- Obtain prescriptions for current speech therapy patients before expiration.
- Submit Medicaid authorization/insurance renewals promptly.
Documentation
- Comply with departmental, rehabilitation, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Support compliance with JCAHO, CARF, OSHA, HIPAA, and ADA guidelines.
Other Professional Activities
- Serve on professional committees or offices.
- Supervise students and Clinical Fellows as directed and within licensure regulations.
- Participate in speech and hearing screenings as a volunteer.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of speech pathology experience.
- Master's Degree in Speech Pathology.
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist through the Louisiana Board of Examiners.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
