JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Specimen Transporter, you will help ensure specimens are handled safely and efficiently across the hospital and laboratory systems. Responsibilities include:
- Transport specimens from various laboratories and units
- Organize and distribute specimens accurately
- Scan barcoded specimens, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure proper delivery
- Provide excellent customer service to medical staff, laboratory staff, patients, and families
- Follow all safety protocols and practice safe work habits
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate documentation
- High attention to detail and reliability
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with basic information technology tools
To ensure a safe working environment, documentation of the following is required:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity
- Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccination or immunity
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or proof of immunity
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) within the last 10 years
- TB (Tuberculosis) negative skin test within the last two months
