Rocky Mountain VA Medical Center The Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center is a welcomed step forward in meeting the increased health care needs of today's Veteran population. This new facility replaces the Denver facility of 670,000 square feet with a new state of the art campus of approximately 1.2 million square feet on 31 acres, providing many new services to Veterans. The new Aurora, Colorado location is ideally located on the southeast corner of the former Fitzsimons Army Base just off Interstate 225, immediately west of RTD's light rail station and neighboring Children's Hospital and the University of Colorado Anschutz Health Care Campus.
Position Overview
Provides the full range of operating room technician services within the scope of practice for a variety of operative procedures. Ensure that all JHACO standards for care are met during performance of patient care. Complete appropriate medical record forms in compliance with VA guidelines and policies on each patient. Verify the content and correctness of all recorded entries in the patient record. All documentation/records/reports must meet or exceed established VA standards to include, but not limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. The outpatient record shall be completed the same day the patient is seen. Decontaminate and clean reusable equipment and/or supplies and associated storage units in accordance with the department, manufacturer, and OSHA standards. Assemble, store, and distribute reusable medical equipment and/or supplies for patient care. Round assigned areas to ensure equipment and/or supplies and storage units are maintained in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate documentation of equipment/supply processing. Adheres to proper infection control and safety practices. Ensures proper handling of instruments and equipment to prevent damage or loss. Monitors for equipment and/or supplies in need of repair or replacement and notifies appropriate department personnel. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Has completed qualifying course of study as an operating room technician
- Has been actively performing both scrub and circulating functions within the operating room
- Has and maintains current BCLS certification
- Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties
- Has documented training and skills verification
