Special Education Facilitator
The position of a Special Education Facilitator will be available at East Central ISD for the school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., June 12, 2026, or until the position is filled.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist teachers in identifying and coordinating the instructional program that relates to the student's individual needs and instructional levels according to current IEP's and modifications made by the ARD Committee.
2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
3. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
4. Review student progress through analysis of grades, attendance, discipline referrals, state assessment-related activities, and IEPs.
5. Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
6. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer (s).
7. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
8. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.
9. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
10. Assist teachers in developing strategies for implementing the IEP/Behavior Plans for students with disabilities.
11. Participate in the ARD Committee process, serving as an administrative designee when needed.
12. Diffuse conflict and find appropriate solutions in ARD meetings.
13. Provide guidance and orientation for new special education staff members.
14. Comply with district policies as well as state and federal laws regarding special education.
15. Coordinate the needs of students with parents and staff.
16. Assist with the coordination of district and statewide testing.
17. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
18. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
19. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
20. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, material, and facilities.
21. Maintain a professional demeanor and establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
22. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
23. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
24. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
25. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
26. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
Effective communication skills
Five years of teaching experience in special education
East Central experience preferred
Experience:
One year student teaching or approved internship
EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Frequent walking. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. May work prolonged or irregular hours. Exposure to biological hazards.
