This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

We are seeking a Software Engineer III - AI services to join the DIS team. You will help develop and deliver the AI and machine learning capabilities, spanning multi‑agent monitoring, AI/ML Model - Audio/Video and Natural Language to SQL, conversational knowledge retrieval, and AI‑assisted decision‑making for enterprise. This role requires a hands‑on engineer with deep expertise across the full AI/ML development lifecycle, from building multi‑agent systems and retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines to training and deploying models.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable, low‑latency AI services powering metadata generation and feature extraction with advanced features like semantic search, knowledge graph visualization, and AI‑powered recommendations for Natural‑language to SQL engine and Audio/Video metadata
• Develop and deploy Agentic AI solutions, including autonomous agents, multi‑agent orchestration frameworks, and LLM‑powered workflows, that transform business processes across Finance, Supply Chain, and other enterprise domains
• Build and manage vector database infrastructure, embedding pipelines, and retrieval strategies to deliver accurate answers to operator queries
• Build models for computer vision, feature extraction, content understanding, and object detection using LLMs, Deep Learning and Transformers
• Own features end‑to‑end: from project estimation and architecture review through coding, deployment, and post‑launch measurement
• Build resilient systems with strong observability, bringing to bear automated testing, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform
• Lead on‑call rotations; drive root‑cause analysis, observability improvements, and operational excellence

Required Qualifications:

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with focus on building RESTful APIs and AI/ML applications, in cloud environments, and containerized workloads (we use AWS)
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python (Preferred), Java, or Go with and at least one AI/ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Experience designing and operating RAG pipelines, including vector databases, embedding models, Audio/Video feature extraction, and retrieval strategies
• Hands‑on experience building and deploying multi‑agent systems, agentic AI workflows, or LLM‑based applications in production
• Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs) for code generation, debugging, and development assistance
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Solid understanding of CS fundamentals: object‑oriented design, algorithms, and problem‑solving

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• Experience with reinforcement learning, including multi‑agent RL, deep Q‑networks, or policy gradient methods
• Understanding formal verification, safety‑critical systems, or graduated autonomy frameworks
• Experience building observability and audit systems for AI decision pipelines in regulated or mission‑critical domains
• Research publications in machine learning, multi‑agent systems, or applied AI, and/or open‑source contributions

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80
