Site Reliability Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- 15+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in API management and integration architecture.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Google Apigee (Edge, Hybrid, or X) platform setup, design, and administration.
- Deep understanding of API design principles (REST, SOAP, Graph QL), microservices, and event-driven architecture.
- Expertise in security standards – OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, TLS, API Keys, threat protection.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure is a plus).
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Define and implement API management strategy leveraging Google Apigee (Edge/Hybrid/X).
- Architect API proxies, policies, and security frameworks including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and SAML.
- Lead API lifecycle management: design, governance, deployment, versioning, and retirement.
- Develop and enforce API governance models, best practices, and reusable frameworks.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to design API-first integration strategies.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of API platforms across hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to development teams in API design, microservices integration, and CI/CD practices.
- Evaluate new technologies, industry trends, and recommend improvements to API platforms.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, optimize APIs, and ensure robust monitoring using tools like Apigee Analytics, Stackdriver, or equivalent.
- Work with security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and regulatory standards.
