Senior Tax Manager – Partner Track / Direct Hire, FTE / San Mateo, CA / Hybrid, 2-3 days per week onsite

Summary: Client is a boutique CPA firm with over 40 years of community involvement looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our partnership track. We are seeking a motivated professional ready to step into a leadership role with clear opportunity for ownership as a partner within the next few years. As one of our partners approaches retirement, we are looking for the right leader to assume a significant portion of his book of business and grow with the firm.

This is a senior management position with direct path to partnership. You will take on substantial client and team leadership responsibilities, positioning yourself to become an equity partner in the near term.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates
• Preparation of tax projections and strategic tax planning
• Leadership on IRS audits and tax notice responses
• Development, management, and expansion of client relationships
• Supervision and mentoring of accounting and tax staff
• Contribution to firm management and business development strategy

Required Skills

• Active CPA license with minimum 15 years of experience in public accounting and tax return preparation
• Strong technical knowledge across individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate taxation
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff
• Excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
• High accuracy and attention to detail in fast-paced, high-compliance environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
