Engineering Design SpecialistProvides for the independent design, development and implementation of engineering products, methods or processes on complete projects or systems, including complex projects of a technical nature. This position works independently on moderately complex technical projects while assisting on larger very complex projects of a technical nature. Conducts analysis and research to evaluate alternate concepts and approaches for applicability in design and manufacture. Conducts verification and validation testing and/or analysis and recommends improvements in testing equipment and techniques.Working Procedure:Responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of engineering processes, methods and productsWorks independently under light technical oversight of engineering supervisors and/or senior engineers on projects or subsystems of a technical naturePrepare major complex portions of written documentation in a team environment to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, technical manuals, disclosures and scientific discoveriesAssist in the formulation of systems requirementsWorks as part of integrated product teams with other cross functional professional employees in the execution of engineering functions.

Will act as team leader for appropriate tasksReceives guidance from, and interfaces with, peers, senior engineers and other professional employees in the execution of engineering functionsProvide technical leadership within the section for recognized disciplineProvides guidance to junior engineers and Integrated Product Team membersPlan and organize the responsibilities for a broad spectrum of assignments with occasional guidanceDefines and analyzes the technical requirements for assigned engineering tasksGenerates, modifies and upgrades mathematical models to predict design performanceUses commercial and proprietary simulation tools in developing and evaluating designsAcquires information from all relevant sources, including industry and governments standards, handbooks, textbooks and reference manualsAssists in the development and maintenance of TCOM design guidelines and practicesKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsFollows industry and internal design guidelines and methodologiesAnalyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution to meet design requirementsConducts and supports internal and customer design reviewsGenerates reports, white papers and technical memorandaPerform research and analysis of technical issues to develop solutions to meet design objectivesWorks to complete tasks within cost and schedule constraints. Provides status and feedback on task progressProvide feedback and make recommendations to improve designs and reduce cost and/or scheduleConducts testing, develops prototype to validate designsDocuments the design developmentSupport multiple assignments on different design product teamsUse the infrastructure to accomplish objectivesSupport production, testing and field operations in improving designsApplies scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results. Tools are objective in nature utilizing quantitative or analytical techniquesMaintain engineering skills consistent with advances in technologySupport multiple assignments of increasing responsibilityPerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedEducation Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, in a related discipline.Experience Requirement: Minimum of eight years of engineering experience. Advanced degree can be substituted for job experience pending review.In compliance with state and local laws, the salary range for this role is $109,008 - $164,000.

The range provided is a general guideline and good faith estimate representative of all experience levels but is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. TCOM considers several factors when extending an offer including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate's experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
