Senior Staff Engineer, Mechanical DesignThis position is for a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer SME for Mechanical Concept Development. In this role, you will define the mechanical packaging and architecture of leading and competitive AI Rack systems, Compute, and Network systems, engage in new related technology research and study. As a member of the Customer Experience team, you will engage in deeper technical dialog and trade-off analysis with customers and key suppliers. Additionally, the candidate should have working knowledge of the interdependencies from other design disciplines such as compute, connectivity, management, power, and cooling subsystems that impact good mechanical design.Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:Define Complex AI/ML infrastructure mechanical solutions in support of system design objectives and requirements.Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.Guide RFQ and Celestica platform mechanical packaging solutionsAbility to rapidly develop and evaluate options and concepts for team analysisProvide effective mechanical trade-off analysis and competitive guidance to engineering teams and customers.Support System Requirements Documents (SRD) development, requirement compliance assessments, and Technical proposals.Act as a primary technical SME to customers on related mechanical topics, concepts, trade-offs, and proposals.Good knowledge/understanding of FEA/CFD analysisDeep knowledge of rack structures, MiG, Tig, Welding.Quality inspection of weldsPerform DFx review, and through understanding of should cost analysisIdentify and resolve cross-functional and cross-discipline architectural issuesIdentify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required Skills:Bachelor or master degree in mechanical engineeringMin. 10+ years of direct working experiences in electronic product mechanical design, related to compute / networking / rack level product design experience is a MUST.Experience with liquid cooling systems, modular chassis and cabled designsExperience with high volume production and high reliability and serviceable productsExperience in mechanical design in a multi-disciplinary environment, and multiple type of product development cyclesGood knowledge in material property, manufacturing process, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, skills to perform kinematics analysis is a plusGood knowledge in sheet metal tooling, plastic tooling and die casting tooling.Good knowledge of manufacturing process like soft tooling and Hard toolingGood knowledge in industrial standards and system level environmental complianceGood experience on optical module application is a plus.Super user of Creo a must.Knowledge of SolidWorksGood skills in Microsoft office softwareBusiness travel possible (include the oversea travel)Physical DemandsThe successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.
Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.
