Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer (RF)Location: Rochester, New York Employment Type: Full-Time Work Schedule: 5/8 (8 hrs/day, 5 days/week)Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain US Security ClearanceThe Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer (RF) will support military communication products throughout their lifecycle—from pre-release through obsolescence. This role is part of the Product Support Engineering team and focuses on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for RF/Analog, Digital, SMT, test, and assembly-related issues. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose problems to component-level, conduct simulations/experiments, and improve product yields, quality, and manufacturability.

The role will also support new product introductions by assisting design engineering with prototype troubleshooting and launch readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport military communication products from pre-release through lifecycle managementInvestigate and troubleshoot issues related to: RF / Analog circuitsDigital systemsSMT and assembly processesProduction test failuresDiagnose failures down to component level, determine root cause and implement corrective actionsSupport New Product Introduction (NPI): troubleshoot prototypesresolve design/manufacturing issuesenable successful ramp to productionMitigate component shortages and obsolescence by: qualifying alternativesredesigning circuits/sub-assemblies if requiredDrive design, process, and test improvements to improve: yieldqualitymanufacturability / testability (DFx)Work with vendors, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve material discrepanciesLead investigations and guide junior engineers; coordinate tasks and prioritiesCreate presentations for management regarding: technical investigationsimprovementscost savingsEssential Functions / Technical RequirementsStrong hardware troubleshooting skills including analog + RF components/circuitsAbility to work independently with general supervisionAbility to design and conduct engineering experiments and act on test resultsCircuit design and analysis using tools such as: ADSMATLABadditional simulation/design toolsExperience leading small technical troubleshoot/design teamsComfortable working in fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environmentsAbility to analyze designs and communicate technical information to support staffHands-on lab equipment usage: OscilloscopeDMMSpectrum AnalyzerNetwork AnalyzerSignal GeneratorsQuick learner, self-driven, strong problem-solving mindsetMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree + minimum 6 years relevant experience OR Graduate Degree + minimum 4 years relevant experience ORIn lieu of degree: 10 years relevant RF experience4+ years of RF experience requiredMust be eligible to obtain US Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsElectrical Engineering Degree preferredExperience with: Tactical RadioPower Amplifier hardwareStrong component-level troubleshooting experienceWorking knowledge of: LabVIEWADSJIRAStrong Microsoft Office skills (Excel advanced + presentations)
