Senior Software EngineerParametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We also offer systematic alpha and alternative strategies to complement clients' core holdings.This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.The Equity Investments and Client Activities team at Parametric:We are building financial software that solves some of the world's most complex financial opportunities. This includes building solutions to provide customized direct index exposure while making tax-sensitive asset allocation decisions to improve overall after-tax portfolio returns.We design and build financial software responsible for the account life cycle that starts with the onboarding of accounts through the management of client activities and investment instructions.We are focused on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that are cloud-native.The Senior Software Engineer on the Equity Investments and Client Activities team will be responsible for design, development, and integration of technology solutions to support all aspects of our equity investments platform.

In this role, the Senior Software Engineer will leverage new and existing technologies to build and maintain services that scale the platform, including on-prem systems and cloud native AWS micro services.Primary ResponsibilitiesWork closely with business unit and other team members to understand and document requirementsDeliver flexible solutions to complex business problems using our technology practicesDesign, develop, and maintain services and API to support various business needsLeverage scalable and distributed computing principles to build the next generation of servicesFollow our development process and guidelinesCreate unit/integration/functional/performance testsConduct code reviews of other developersMentor new or less senior developersShare experience, knowledge, and ideas to the team to improve processes and productivityJob RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area of study5+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE software design and development experience. C# experience a plus.Solid understanding of core language features and how to use them properlyThorough understanding of multi-threading programming and thread safety principlesStrong aptitude for highly efficient data structures and algorithmsStrong knowledge of relational databases and SQLWorking knowledge of NoSQL database engines such as Redis, Cassandra, or MongoDBProven experience with test driven development, JUnit, and mockingFamiliarity with version control systems such as GIT or SVNWorking experience with agile developmentFamiliarity with continuous integration and build tools like Maven or GradleProven track record of becoming a subject matter expert in areas related to current assignmentsEffective communication skills with business users and other developersFamiliarity with AI and related technologies, with the ability to apply them in a business or technical contextParametric believes each member of our organization makes a significant contribution to our success.
