Senior Project Engineer – Ryan Companies US, Inc.
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an immediate career opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Help generate Requests For Information (RFIs) and track approvals.
- Monitor and maintain shop drawing log and shop drawing coordination.
- Learn project dimensional control requirements while field verifying dimensions to back‑check the shop drawing approval process.
- Assist in the coordination and tracking of vendor and subcontractor deliveries.
- Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Gain an understanding of overall site logistics.
- Participate in and gain an understanding of city and jurisdictional permit inspection processes.
- Keep office and job‑site plans updated with RFIs and ASIs.
- Accompany Ryan personnel (and Owner) on punch‑list inspections, record punch‑list items and monitor completion of punch‑list work.
- Perform additional assignments per superintendent’s/project manager’s direction.
- Participate in preparing and updating the project schedule.
- Prepare agendas and minutes for the weekly construction meetings and take an active role in these meetings.
- Assist Project Manager with project procurement through development of subcontractor RFP bid forms and bid‑form evaluation spreadsheets.
- Gain an understanding of unit costs, bid‑form evaluations and award procedures during the bid phase of a construction project.
- Assist with owner change pricing; prepare billings and review invoices.
- Under supervision on selected small projects, prepare and control budget and schedule, award and negotiate subcontracts, participate in job‑site coordination meetings, review job status with Project Manager, prepare profit projections and complete punch‑list and project close‑out items.
- Support the estimating process and learn take‑off software and unit‑cost analysis through preparing quantity take‑offs.
- Monitor assigned subcontracts, subcontractor schedules relative to material deliveries and subcontractor manpower.
- Develop a working understanding of budgets, schedules, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, change orders and other management tools.
- Assume responsibility and communicate effectively with all internal and external customers.
- May have more involvement in the entire job cycle on selected small projects, under supervision.
- Travel as needed.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of successful commercial construction experience in a design‑build environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or management is required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost‑coding systems.
- Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing is required.
- Familiarity and comfort with current technology.
- Minimum six‑month job‑site experience before moving on to Project Management or Field Career Path.
- Willingness to travel and/or relocate as needed to execute projects.
Desired Qualities
- General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
- Ability to calculate mathematical calculations.
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost‑coding systems.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively.
Compensation
Annual salary range: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00. Base rate may vary within this range based on location and candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.
