Job Summary

Senior Principal Software Engineer responsible for leading technology development, mentorship, and business development initiatives while ensuring products meet customer needs, budget, and schedule constraints.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of software applications and systems, including image and signal processing, real‑time, firmware, nuclear/high‑rel, FAA certified, database design, operating systems, operator/machine interface, and related tools.
  • Determine hardware compatibility and create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Interact with users to define system requirements and propose necessary modifications.
  • Drive technology and activity completion on time and within budget.
  • Lead major problem‑resolution efforts and support regaining or attaining customer partner status.
  • Mentor and coach engineers at all experience levels.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, develop designs that balance performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.
  • Analyze designs as necessary; provide higher‑level product line architecture and oversight to multiple development teams.
  • Attend engineering, customer, and business meetings; act as a member of the new business capture team.
  • Support pursuit of new business by developing and presenting new concepts, technologies, or applications.
  • Develop trusted engineering contacts with the customer and become part of the customer’s design team.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Support program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and the customer.
  • Participate heavily in preparation of complex proposals.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Coordinate, recommend, and confer on technical activities and progress with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel.
  • Reinforce and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Mastery of multiple engineering disciplines with significant cross‑functional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead major problem‑resolution efforts and support regaining or attaining customer partner status.
