Senior Labor & Employment Attorney

Overview

• The Labor and Employment Group counsels employers on federal, state, and local employment and traditional labor issues, addressing complex workforce issues, high-stakes litigation, compliance matters, and traditional labor issues across the country.
• The role involves counseling employers on matters such as wage and hour compliance, employee classification, workplace investigations, workforce restructuring, leaves and accommodations, restrictive covenants, independent contractor issues, and privacy.
• Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on various employment-related policies, handbooks, and agreements, including compensation and benefits, workplace conduct, harassment, privacy, employment, separation, noncompetition, confidentiality, independent contractor, and vendor contracts.
• The attorney will represent employers before federal and state administrative agencies, responding to investigations, audits, and enforcement actions, and conducting internal compliance and wage and hour audits.
• The role entails defending employers in federal and state courts and arbitration proceedings involving a broad range of employment matters such as discrimination, harassment, leave and accommodation claims, wage and hour disputes, and restrictive covenant matters.
• The position requires handling all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery and document production, taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, and developing case strategy.
• Candidates are expected to take a lead role in managing matters, counseling clients, developing strategy, and building trusted client relationships within a collaborative, cross-office platform.
• Am Law 100 law firm experience is preferred for this role.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Montana and at least one of these jurisdictions: California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, or Washington, D.C.
