Senior Java Developer

Role Overview
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work closely with business lines and architects to provide implementation solutions for various software applications. This role is involved in every release, project, and phase of the SDLC, including Analysis, Technical Design, Development, Testing, and Deployment. The position entails supervising and developing software to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives for specific applications or application groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, enhances, tests, supports, maintains, and debugs software applications that support business units or support functions.
- Serves as a senior member of the technical team, responsible for assisting senior business leaders and management.
- May provide strategic technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of technological alternatives and business system requirements to recommend innovations.
- Leads or has responsibility for the estimation of effort for software applications for one or more programmers.
- Coordinates collaboration with external programming teams to deliver software on time and within budget.
- Provides feedback and technical guidance to project managers on issues of critical importance to achieving business objectives.
- Creates prototypes to validate design concepts.
- Prepares UML diagrams to describe the current and future state of applications.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience developing mission-critical, large-scale, high-volume enterprise and distributed applications using Java/J2EE.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and programming skills with Java.
- Experience with Java development of RESTful Services using the Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and SOAP Webservices.
- Experience with Apache Kafka for online data publishing and consuming.
- Experience with JUnit test case development, performance testing, optimization, and code analysis.
- Experience using Relational Oracle SQL/PLSQL and NoSQL distributed Cassandra DB technologies.
- Experience using development tools such as Eclipse/IntelliJ IDEs, Maven, GIT, Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, Splunk, and SOAP UI.
- Experience building high-volume, scalable, available, and distributed technologies.
- Experience with standard development design patterns (Creational, Behavioral, and JEE).
- Experience handling cross-functional issues by coordinating with distributed development teams.
- Experience with development models such as Agile and SDLC, and knowledge of test-driven development.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AI-enabled development tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools that assist with code development, code analysis, productivity, and software engineering workflows would be beneficial.
