The Senior Java Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable services for the Catalog team.
This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, cloud technologies, Kafka, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
The engineer must be capable of working independently, owning tasks end-to-end, and contributing to a high-velocity engineering environment.
This position operates in a hybrid model with onsite work required twice per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and enhance catalog-related microservices with high scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Work with cloud-based environments to deploy, maintain, and optimize distributed applications.
- Develop, test, and maintain event-driven systems leveraging Kafka.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and automated test frameworks.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
- Debug and resolve production issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, QA, DevOps, and architecture.
- Work independently on tasks and deliver solutions without needing extensive guidance.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Java development.
- Expertise with Spring Boot and microservice development.
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar).
- Strong experience with Kafka for messaging and event streaming.
- Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and automated tests.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model, onsite twice per week in Sunnyvale from Day 1.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale catalog, product data, or inventory systems.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with distributed system design patterns and scalability best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
