Senior Design Engineer – ConnectorsWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to join an industry-leading engineering team supporting advanced connector product development.This is a remote direct hire position, with approximately 25% travel to the Binghamton, NY area.Why Consider This OpportunityRemote position with occasional travelWork on innovative, technically challenging connector productsOpportunity to mentor and develop junior engineersPlay a key role in new product development from concept through productionCollaborative engineering environment with long-term career growthKey ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design and development of connector products from concept through production launch.Design plastic injection molded components and complex electromechanical assemblies.Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior design engineers.Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, testing, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop innovative product solutions.Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using SolidWorks and ePDM.Perform engineering analysis utilizing FEA, Mold Flow, tolerance stack-up, and design validation techniques.Develop and maintain BOMs, ECNs, specifications, test plans, and other engineering documentation.Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause investigations utilizing Lean engineering tools.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.5+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong experience designing plastic injection molded components.Proficiency with SolidWorks, ePDM, FEA, and Mold Flow analysis.Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).Experience utilizing Lean problem-solving tools such as Root Cause Analysis and A3 methodologies.Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers.Required Technical ExperienceCandidates should have direct experience designing electrical connector products, including:Circular, rectangular, high-speed, or fiber optic connectorsContact system design, plating, mating cycles, and connector reliabilityMIL-spec or other industry-standard interconnect systemsHigh-speed interconnect or signal integrity design experience
