Senior Data Engineer (Cloud SQL Engineering Lead)The Senior Data Engineer’s role is to work with the stakeholders and project teams to ensure data needs/requirements are captured and fulfilled. This role would require a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues and establishing and maintaining communications with stakeholders to keep them updated.Essential Functions:Assembles and architects large, complex sets of data that meet business and technical requirementsIdentifies, designs and implements well-architected, data-centric solutions including:Re-designs infrastructure for greater scalabilityOptimizes data deliveryAutomates manual processesDevelops and maintains strategies on data consolidationBuilds data models and defines the structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elementsMaintains a strong grasp of ETL process and developmentManages, Architects and builds Data ODS, Warehouse, and standard systemsBuilds required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sourcesBuilds analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metricsWorks with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assists them with maximizing the impact of their dataAddresses requests and needs on data analysis and report managementCollaborates with application development, product owners, and business stakeholders to achieve business resultsParticipates in development and creation of Data warehousesConducts Performance Tuning and Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting toolsDemonstrates a strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patchingWrites and troubleshoots SQL Code (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)Evaluates new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integrationMaintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questionsProvides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problemsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; Snowflake experience a plusExperience with data transformation and ingestion – unifying large datasets into usable/accessible destinations (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory)Knowledge of data processing/buffering – proven experience dealing with high volumes of business critical dataKnowledge of operational automation tooling – data deployment automation toolsKnowledge of high availability architecting – focus on redundancy, fail-over, and resilienceGood understanding of estimation techniquesBachelors in Business MIS, or Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)4+ years’ experience in database administration of development4+ years’ experience in technology or finance fieldsCertifications in SQL or other database technologyStrong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practicesHands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experienceExperience with data processing flowcharting techniquesGood understanding of the organization’s goals and objectivesKnowledge of applicable data privacy practices and lawsGood written and oral communication skillsStrong technical documentation skillsGood interpersonal skillsAbility to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as requiredAbility to present ideas in user-friendly languageHighly self-motivated and directedKeen attention to detailProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentStrong customer service orientationExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentRequired Skills: NoSQL, AWS Cloud Formation, Data Analysis, Azure, Data Warehouse.
