Senior Accountant

We are partnering with a growing construction company in Miami to identify an experienced Construction Accountant to join its Finance & Accounting team.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with hands-on construction industry experience who understands WIP accounting, Percentage of Completion (POC), job costing, and project financial reporting. The Construction Accountant will work closely with Project Management, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting across active construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and Percentage of Completion calculations across multiple active projects.
• Perform detailed job cost accounting, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and other project-related costs.
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, committed costs, and estimated costs to complete.
• Review project performance and identify over/under billings, margin changes, and cost variances.
• Partner with Project Managers to review project financials, forecasts, change orders, and estimated costs at completion.
• Support monthly close, including project-related journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
• Maintain accurate accounting for contracts, change orders, retainage, progress billings, and subcontractor activity.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial and project reporting.
• Support external audits and provide project-level accounting documentation as needed.
• Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, general contracting, or a specialty contractor environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with WIP accounting and Percentage of Completion accounting required.
• Solid understanding of job costing and construction revenue recognition.
• Experience working with project budgets, change orders, retainage, and progress billing.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with construction accounting or ERP systems.
• Ability to work closely with Project Managers and operational teams.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
