Security Systems TechnicianThe University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Security Systems Technician to work at our UHealth campus.Core Job Summary:The Security Systems Technician installs, maintains, services, troubleshoots, and repairs security systems, hardware, and peripherals to ensure that assigned premises are safe and secure at all times. Additionally, the Security Systems Technician evaluates present systems and recommends system expansion, modification, and replacement.Core Responsibilities:Communicates with management, vendors, and contractors to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Corrects malfunctions to restore the conformance of equipment to established standards.Maintains records of equipment installed and assists in stocking service parts.Performs physical inventories of security systems equipment and provides technical assistance and support.Cleans security systems equipment and work areas.Conducts research and analyzes test measurements and other data.Reads and makes inferences from blueprints, equipment specifications, schematic drawings, and technical instructions; maintains records and inventory.Tests backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and other security features to ensure proper functionality of security systems.Consults with senior managing staff to assess risks and to determine security requirements.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.Core Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum 1 year of relevant experience requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.Commitment to the University's core values.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).Ability to operate a motor vehicleValid State of Florida driver's licenseAny relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.This is a core job profile description and is not reflective of all duties that may be assigned to a specific position in each individual department.
