Position Overview
Department of Surgery, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University is seeking a full‑time faculty member to serve as Section Chief and Surgical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center. The role requires an experienced surgeon with a specialization in Breast, Soft Tissue and Melanoma, or GI Oncology. The selected faculty member will lead the Surgical Oncology Program in Augusta, Georgia. This position is not on a tenure track but offers opportunities for research collaboration and training of general surgery residents.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Surgical Oncology Program.
- Serve as Surgical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center.
- Participate in research studies related to surgical oncology.
- Mentor and supervise general surgery residents.
- Provide patient‑ and family‑centered clinical care.
- Maintain administrative duties and institutional commitments as required.
Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a surgical oncology fellowship.
- Board certified in General Surgery with additional surgical oncology fellowship training.
- Minimum seven years of surgical experience.
- Senior level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable.
- Evidence of teaching, scholarly activity, and institutional service.
- Completed background check (and, if applicable, credit check and vehicle report).
- Commitment to confidentiality, privacy, and cybersecurity policies.
