School Counselor
Salary: In accordance with CBA
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Compliance
Hours: In accordance with District scheduled school day

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Help students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment. In order to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program, the School Counselor will work closely with the Principal, other administrators and the teachers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor students' progress through communications with the teachers and report to parents weekly.
- Assist and hold Student Attendance Improvement Meetings with truant students, their families and outside agencies.
- Possess knowledge of required courses as per PA school code.
- Ensure all high school students' credits are correct and meet with each student and their family to discuss a graduation plan.
- Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns.
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
- Implement a comprehensive student performance appraisal process by:
- Selecting and administering appropriate ability, achievement, and interest tests.
- Visiting with students and interviewing interested adults.
- Interpreting results to students, teachers, administrators and parents.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess an active Pennsylvania School Counselor certification.
- Masters degree from an accredited college/university.
- Possess strong computer technology skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.
- Some stooping, bending and twisting of the body required.
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk or move throughout the building and/or office, often for extended periods of the workday.
