SAP Materials Management Specialist

Akkodis is seeking a Materials Management and Logistics Specialist for a Contract with a client in Tyler, TX—on-site—with strong hands-on experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Excel.

Rate Range: $25/hr - $28/hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Summary:

The main function of a Materials Management and Logistics Specialist is to coordinate the planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials to support operational efficiency. A typical Materials Management and Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely delivery, inventory accuracy, and compliance with supply chain procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the procurement of materials to meet production and project needs.

• Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials in accordance with company policies.

• Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

• Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, shipments, and material usage.

• Analyze logistics data to identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all logistics activities.

Skills:

• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

• Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.

• Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and procurement principles.

• Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

• Ability to analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making.

• Familiarity with shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.

• Able to use mainframe computer system (SAP) and personal computer software to perform warehouse activities.

• Able to pass required tests to acquire forklift certification.

Education/Experience:

• Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of English, grammar and basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and calculation of fractions and/or percentages)

• 0-2 years of experience

Physical Requirements:

• Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

• Able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, lift arms, carry items and climb stairs or ladders.

• Able to view terminal for extended periods of time, use keyboard and sit for long periods of time to use personal computer.

• that Able to use the proper tools for any given job.

• Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.

• Able to don personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis.

• Able to operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
