Job Summary

The Roofing Technician is responsible for performing installation, repair, and maintenance of roofing systems for multi-family residential and commercial properties. This role ensures high-quality craftsmanship, adherence to safety standards, and customer satisfaction. The Roofing Technician works as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and effectively, often in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace roofing systems including shingles, metal, tile, and flat roofing materials.
  • Inspect roofing systems to identify damage, leaks, or deterioration and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including use of PPE and fall protection systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe working condition.
  • Remove old roofing materials and prepare surfaces for new installation.
  • Assist with estimating material requirements and tracking project timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers regarding project progress.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards on every job.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of roofing or construction experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of roofing materials, tools, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • OSHA or other safety training certification is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role combines field and office work. The Roofing technician must lift materials, climb multiple stories, and work outdoors in varied weather. They must follow proper safety practices and wear PPE to minimize hazards. The position requires managing stressful situations, occasional long or weekend hours, frequent travel by car, and regular use of a personal cell phone.
