Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Nursing Director or Supervisor, the Pediatric/PICU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice, federal, state, and local regulations, and incorporates knowledge of patient age‑specific development and cultural values into the plan of care. The RN contributes to quality nursing care through process improvement techniques and multidisciplinary collaboration that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient delivery.
This is a full‑time, night shift (7 p‑7 a) position on our state‑of‑the‑art 6‑bed Pediatric/PICU unit. It is a swing-bed unit that serves general pediatric patients as well as PICU‑level care patients. The most common PICU patients are respiratory driven (asthma exacerbation, pneumonia), with volume largely derived from the Pediatric ER, general pediatric surgeons, and pediatric GI.
Qualifications
- BCLS and Neonatal Resuscitation must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse – clear and active SC or compact state nursing license
- ASN/BSN
- Prior pediatric nursing experience is required
