As a full‑time nurse in our in‑house staffing float pool, you’re always ready, willing, and able to go where the greatest patient care is needed. Comfortable in a variety of care settings, you assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on the standards of care and policies of LCMC Health.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for your patients performing priority technical procedures as assigned.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
- Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
- Monitor and engage with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
- Demonstrate compliance with all state and federal regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g., patient safety, infection control, HIPAA) and LCMC Health’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
- Prevent and treat wounds.
- Perform proper hand‑off while identifying and communicating problems to ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
- Communicate information, data, and significant events to appropriate care team members or supervisors, including current or changes in patient condition/status, laboratory/diagnostic data, intake and output, nutrition needs, patient needs, assessment findings, changes of shift reporting, unit problems, patient/family/physician team member complaints, defective equipment and supply usage.
- Keep patients informed and initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
- Assist team members without being asked.
- Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform tasks effectively, safely, or independently.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- 1 year of professional nursing experience.
