We specialize in taking care of a specific population of patients that include patients with LVADS, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, patients on CRRT. We are a 10 bed CV ICU.
We have an intensivist present in the unit Monday-Friday. We have multidisciplinary rounds with the intensivist and care team at 10 am everyday Monday-Friday. My nurses typically carry 2 patients, and we run with a free charge nurse.
We titrate cardiac gtts, vasoactive medications and any sedation for patients that are intubated, A lot of patient's will have AAA repairs done and when they come back from these procedures they have to lay flat for a specific amount of hours. We keep a close eye on the patients and effective communication is extremely important between the nurses, physicians and care team Ratio / Census: 1:1-2; 10 Beds with average daily census of 7 Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBARS Scrub Color: Navy Blue RTO: MAX 7 days RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th) Weekends: Every other weekend unless specified elsewhere Floating: Yes, within facility/scope of practice as needed Call Requirements: None Holidays: If one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays.
If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays. Major Holidays are listed below: Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving/Black Friday Christmas Eve/Christmas Day New Years Eve/New Years Day Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; if not compliant in time the push back is 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule.
