Help iLevelUP design useful, understandable, and inclusive educational experiences for underserved youth and young people.
The volunteer User Experience Designer will synthesize approved research and program needs into user journeys, information architecture, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and service improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Translate approved goals and research findings into personas or need statements, journeys, task flows, and experience requirements
- Organize navigation, information architecture, onboarding, help, feedback, and recovery experiences
- Create low- and mid-fidelity wireframes and prototypes for collaborative review
- Plan ethical usability activities with UX research and safeguarding owners
- Identify accessibility, privacy, trust, comprehension, motivation, and technology-access barriers
- Collaborate with product, content, UI, development, accessibility, support, and program volunteers
- Document assumptions, decisions, open questions, evidence, and measurement plans
- Avoid manipulative patterns, unsupported assumptions, unnecessary data collection, or unapproved participant contact
- Protect all research and participant information
Qualifications:
- Experience in UX, product design, service design, information architecture, education technology, or human-centered design
- Strong user flows, wireframing, prototyping, facilitation, synthesis, and systems thinking
- Familiarity with accessibility, privacy, youth research ethics, trauma-informed practice, and low-bandwidth design
- Portfolio or work samples are helpful
- At least 21 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirements
This is a remote, project-based or recurring role. Expect approximately 4–8 hours per month.
