Help iLevelUP make its educational platform and digital materials more usable for people with disabilities and a wider range of access needs.
The volunteer Accessibility Specialist will evaluate approved web, mobile, document, video, and learning experiences and help teams implement practical, testable improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Review user flows, interfaces, content, documents, media, and components against WCAG-informed criteria
- Test keyboard navigation, focus, semantics, labels, contrast, zoom, reflow, captions, transcripts, and assistive-technology behavior
- Document reproducible findings with severity, user impact, evidence, and remediation guidance
- Partner with designers, developers, content creators, quality assurance, and program volunteers
- Help create accessible patterns, checklists, acceptance criteria, and training resources
- Verify fixes with appropriate tools and manual testing
- Include disability perspectives respectfully and avoid claiming universal conformance from limited tests
- Protect participant information and use approved test accounts and environments
- Never disclose findings or alter production systems without authorization
Qualifications:
- Experience with digital accessibility, inclusive design, accessibility testing, assistive technology, UX, development, content, or quality assurance
- Knowledge of WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard testing, screen readers, captions, documents, and mobile accessibility
- Strong evidence-based documentation and collaborative communication
- Lived experience and relevant certifications are welcomed but not required
- At least 18 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirements
This is a remote, project-based or recurring role. Expect approximately 3–7 hours per month.
