Unit Overview

Mixed acuity unit specializing in neurosurgery and stroke with a variety of other diagnoses. Growth opportunities within the unit and beyond. Innovative with the first Henry Ford Virtual Nursing program. Care is evidence‑based with high nursing autonomy.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.

Education/Experience Required

• BSN preferred.
• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 3 years of hire.
• Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years of hire.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum 1 year hospital inpatient RN experience.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, titrating vasoactive drips, post‑surgical care, post PCI care, and chest tubes.
• Professional certifications to support a culture of nursing excellence.
• Participation in Professional Advancement Ladder (PAL).

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
