The Radiology Technician will work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services and is expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. The CT/Radiology Tech primary responsibility is to assist the physicians by providing high quality imaging, they can use to make diagnoses or assess the success of treatment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging proceduresAdjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physicianExplains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperationMoves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracyPractices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staffPerforms routine diagnostic radiology proceduresPrepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physicianPerforms routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as neededAdminister IVs that contain contrast dues to enhance imagingCompletes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performedImports images from outside facilities into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)REQUIREMENTSMinimum Requirements:Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic TechnologyAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CertificationOne (1) to three (3) years of related experiencePreferred ARRT (CT)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESProficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice softwareResponds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistanceHigh level of confidentiality and discretionStrong communication effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkersAbility to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and directionExcellent organizational skillsObserves safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properlyEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled#SMC
