Project Engineer
Project Engineer will support capital projects at wind farms across the region, primarily in Southwest Minnesota, with sites throughout MN, SD, and nearby areas.
Project Engineer Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of approximately a dozen projects per year, overseeing the entire project lifecycle at wind facilities.
- Plan and schedule capital projects at wind farms.
- Order equipment and coordinate with contractors.
- Communicate and collaborate with site Operations & Maintenance teams.
- Perform limited research and development to select optimal equipment options.
- Manage a multiyear (5-year) project portfolio, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure quality, adherence to schedule, and control costs.
- Travel during construction windows to oversee installations, as needed.
- Engage in desk-based planning and scheduling, including opening and planning work orders.
- Coordinate schedules and field visits with contractors.
- Work with O&M teams to align priorities.
- Research equipment options and document decisions.
- Develop and manage budgets and forecast project portfolios.
- Occasionally visit sites during construction to oversee work.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical preferred; other disciplines considered), ideally from an ABET-accredited program
- Project management experience
- PMP certification (nice to have)
- PE license (nice to have)
- Renewables experience, especially wind energy
- Strong communication skills, critical due to multisite coordination
- Ability to work effectively with O&M teams
- Independent problem solving and ownership
- Approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience
- Strong renewables project management background considered, even without a degree (engineering degree highly preferred, not required)
