Project AccountantRemote or Lakewood CO - Lakewood, CO 80215About the PositionThe Project Accountant is an integral part of the Finance/Accounting team that also serves as a liaison with the Project Services team. This position is responsible for invoicing, project setup, assisting with ASC 606 revenue recognition, and various other financial/accounting tasks as they relate to NEI's portfolio of projects. This position also works closely with the Project Management team on various tasks to support project operations. Strong organizational skills are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
A successful candidate possesses structure, attention to detail, and a positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.Essential ResponsibilitiesExecute all aspects of the invoicing process for assigned portfolio of projects/project managersCollaborate with project managers and clients to ensure all parties are synchronized on the invoicing process/requirements for each client accountComplete lien waivers, payment applications, SOV's, etc. to facilitate client paymentsFollow-up with clients on past due balances and resolve client invoice inquiriesSetup and/or review setup of new projects in ERP system; ensure project setup aligns with contract detailsMaintain data integrity in ERP system as it relates to projects, especially revenue methods/recognition, project structure, and cost trackingAssist with annual audit inquiries relating to projects and ensure proper documentation is maintained throughout the year in support of the annual auditUnderstand implications of various project financial inputs on ASC 606 revenue recognition and advise project managers accordinglyReview timesheets/payroll to verify that hours are charged to correct projectsAssist the Project Accounting Manager with ad hoc projects as neededA notary is not required at start, will be required to be obtained upon startingSkills & KnowledgeExceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully at all levels of the organization; demonstrates high emotional intelligenceProfessional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretionDemonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle, delegate, and prioritize multiple competing tasks and effectively manage deadlinesHighly organized, motivated self-starterProven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with exceptional attention to detailFlexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a quickly growing teamActively engages and participates in meetings, maintains strict confidentialityProvides a high-level of customer service to internal and external clientsMaintains high ethical and professional standardsQualifications & Experience3+ years of experience as Project Accountant in the architecture, engineering, or construction industryExperience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition is highly preferredExperience with ERP systemsProficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferential, proficiency/experience with other Deltek software products is highly advantageousHigh level of proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word with a positive attitude towards new technologyCollege degree preferred in accounting, finance, and related fieldsMust be able to legally work in the United StatesMust have a positive, "can do" attitudeWorking ConditionsWork Environment: Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be requiredTravel: Minimal, less than 5%Physical Activities: Must be able to lift 25lbs.About NEI Electric Power EngineeringServing Others.
