Progressive Care Unit Charge RN Registered Nurse Full-Time 7p

Job Summary

The RN - Charge Nurse is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities to provide quality patient care during assigned shifts. This individual reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and serves as a mentor to the staff. The Charge Nurse acts as a role model, providing direction in nursing process, quality improvement standards, and departmental goals in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year staff nurse experience.
• Active RN licensure required.
• BLS required; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc.) may be required depending on area assigned.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
• Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
• Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
• Ability to observe, assess, and record work, safety and infection control standards.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, hand use, and repetitive actions. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds or greater. Continuous speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity, conversation by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Work is indoors, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
