Production Supervisor – Engine Assembly (Midnight Shift)This role oversees engine assembly operations on the midnight shift, leading a team of production and operating workers in a unionized manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor coordinates daily activities, ensures safe and efficient production, and drives continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and equipment performance.ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate the daily activities of production and operating workers in engine assembly on the midnight shift.Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and enhance production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and overall efficiency.Review ongoing operations and collaborate with technical and administrative staff to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production or processing issues.Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems to monitor performance and ensure adherence to standards.Analyze production, quality control, and maintenance data to detect production problems and drive corrective actions.Hire, train, and evaluate staff, providing coaching and feedback to support performance and development.Address and resolve personnel issues and grievances in alignment with union practices and plant policies.Prepare, maintain, and review accurate production reports and personnel records.Supervise approximately 9 employees in the CTP Department and support operations on the Block Machining Line with an additional 11 union employees.Ensure compliance with safety procedures and plant policies during all production activities.Coordinate work schedules to support high-demand periods, including frequent overtime and weekend work.Essential SkillsStrong working in a UAW or similar unionized manufacturing environment.Manufacturing supervision experience with direct oversight of production teams.Experience in OEM or Tier 1 supplier environments is preferred.Strong verbal communication skills to clearly direct teams and collaborate with cross-functional staff.High attention to detail to monitor production processes, quality, and documentation.Effective problem-solving skills to quickly identify issues and implement practical solutions.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced production setting.Knowledge of raw materials and production processes used in engine assembly or similar manufacturing operations.Knowledge of quality control methods and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance, within a production environment.Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience supervising multiple departments or lines within a manufacturing plant.Engine or automotive manufacturing.Familiarity with production tracking and reporting systems.Experience working closely with union representatives and following established labor agreements.Comfort working in a high-pressure environment with frequent deadlines and production targets.Why Work Here?Employees join this operation to be part of a high-impact manufacturing environment where their leadership directly influences production quality and efficiency. The schedule primarily runs Monday through Friday with regular Saturday work approximately twice per month and additional weekends as needed.

The role is based in a UAW-represented plant focused on engine production, where the supervisor oversees 9 employees in the CTP Department and supports the Block Machining Line with an additional 11 union employees. The environment is fast-paced and can be stressful due to production demands, high output expectations, and frequent overtime. Casual dress is standard within safety and plant guidelines, and the facility relies on complex machinery, tools, and precision equipment typical of an engine manufacturing and machining operation.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.50/hr.
