Procurement Specialist (P1)Duration: 12 Months Location: Portland, OR | Hybrid – 3x/week at WTC, 2x/week remoteThe Associate Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining efficient procurement operations. This position is responsible for transactional procurement activities, including managing purchase requisitions and supporting low risk sourcing efforts.
The role ensures timely and accurate processing of routine procurement tasks, enabling Category Buyers and Category Managers to focus on higher value tactical and strategic activities. This position supports the smooth flow of procurement work, ensures compliance with established processes, and contributes to a reliable source to pay cycle.Key ResponsibilitiesRequisition & Purchase Order ProcessingProcess all purchase requisitions (POs & COs) in compliance with PGE's procurement policies.Validate purchase requests and ensure accuracy of documentation.Conduct basic purchasing support activities.Low-Risk SourcingDevelop RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for assigned simple sourcing events.Determine appropriate procurement method and negotiate pricing for routine buys.Apply basic knowledge of sourcing principles to help identify process improvements and cost saving opportunities.Contract ManagementHelp draft and execute contracts based on established procurement frameworks.Apply contract extensions and escalate issues when required.Prepare formal notices and maintain supplier performance reports.Administrative & Workflow SupportManage procurement-related tickets (e.g., ServiceNow) and triage requests.Compliance & CoordinationEnsure adherence to procurement standards and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with Category Buyers and Category Managers for smooth handoffs and timely execution.RequirementsBachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.1–2 years in supply chain, procurement, category management, or related fieldsFamiliarity with ERP/Procurement systems and procurement processes preferred.Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.Working knowledge of procurement methods, standards, and procedures.Basic contract negotiation skills.Understanding of market conditions relevant to evaluating supplier bids and performance.Basic sourcing strategy formulation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/Procurement tools.Basic analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.Working interpersonal, organization, and prioritization skills.Ability to meet deadlines, follow accuracy standards, and collaborate effectively.Ability to respond to change, accept feedback, and apply learnings.
